BCUMC Web Site Guidelines as of February 1, 2008.1. The Communications Committee will designate the person(s) authorized to add or remove materials from the Church’s web site. If more than one person is authorized, then one will be designated as the primary site administrator. 2. All materials posted on the site should support the fellowship and ministries of BCUMC, or ministries that are supported by BCUMC. 3. No content should be submitted for posting on the site that may subject BCUMC to claims of copyright or trademark infringement, or to claims for libel or slander. 4. Using names of individual church members should be minimized. If members’ names are needed, use only the first name. If last names are used, express permission MUST be obtained from each church member named. 5. Names of staff members may be published. The staff member should be notified before their name is posted. 6. Photographs of individuals should be minimized. Express permission from each individual in a picture MUST be obtained before it will be posted. Photographs and graphics should not be large. The web site administrator will have discretion concerning size and placement of images on web pages. 7. All telephone inquiries from web pages will be directed only to the church office main line (281-463-2330) or the church preschool main line (281-463-2969). The church office must be given details about all posted events and where to refer people for additional information. 8. Online forms are preferred for interactive communications from the site. E-mail links to individuals should be minimized. Whenever possible, forms will be set up to deliver information both to a member of the responsible committee and to the church office e-mail address. If e-mail links are used instead of forms, the committee member receiving the message will be responsible for providing a copy to the committee for the church’s files. 9. Committees are responsible for clearing issues and information in their materials through staff, COM, AdBoard, Trustees, or other appropriate authorities. The Communications Committee may edit or decline to post materials pending staff approval or for reasons such as privacy concerns. 10. Materials submitted for posting on BCUMC’s web site should be consistent with any applicable policies for publication of materials by BCUMC, and must conform with all rules and guidelines of the General Board of Global Ministries for sites on its server. 11. Links to sites that are inconsistent with these guidelines should not be posted.
