The missions committee works continuously to raise awareness of local, regional and global missional efforts of The United Methodist Church. We are also committed to providing multiple opportunities for all people of Bear Creek UMC – members and guests alike – to grow in their discipleship and understanding of faith through service in a variety of ways. We seek to help Christians gain an increased awareness and understanding of God through exposure to all peoples of the world, their cultures and histories.
Bear Creek UMC has recently established a new food bank partnership for serving our community. The Father's Heart Church is an evangelical, charismatic, interdenominational church located at 4512-D Highway 6 North, at the east end of the strip shopping center that shares a parking lot with the former Luby's Cafeteria. Their leader is Rev. Richard Wyatt. The Father's Heart Faith Pantry is open to all needy families in the area. Every Wednesday, they serve a meal and hand out food items that BCUMC and others contribute, keeping a record of all recipients in order to serve them in additional ways as opportunities arise. Under the leadership of Don Driggs, BCUMC contributes by collecting both money and individual food items, either at the Welcome Center on Sunday mornings or in the church office at other times. If you wish to continue to give or begin to give food, it helps Don and the pantry if you will select from the following list and observe the size limitations:
